This view looking upwards through a hole in the ceiling shows a traditional leaded hub joint and a more recent rubber-sleeved hubless connection . There are similar fittings for both sweat and solvent joinery. Since they are not “tapped” , they are simply called reducing bushings. 3000 & 6000 class fittings are available in both Threaded and Socket Weld types.

Lightly oil the cone of the screw sleeve and the thread of the union nut. With sealing cone screw-on fittings with O-ring (AOL / AOS), the pre-stressing of the O-ring must be bridged and the sealing cone must lie metallically flush against the cone of the HL/HS connector. At this point, the cutting ring may be allowed to rotate, but must not move axially. Tightening torques for stainless steel fittings and for fittings with UN/UNF threads available upon request. The entire fitting consists of the threaded connector, the spacer ring with O-ring seal, the pressure ring and the union nut.

Isolation valves are typically left in either a fully open or fully closed position. A given isolation valve may be in place for many years without being operated, but must be designed to be readily operable whenever needed, including emergency use. Since the alignment stop is missing, it is up to the installer to carefully measure the final location of the slip coupling to ensure that it is located correctly. If there’s a pipe needing cut or bent, we have the equipment to help make it happen.

Although reducers are usually concentric, eccentric reducers are used as needed to maintain the top- or bottom-of-pipe level. Gaskets are mechanical seals, usually ring-shaped, which seal flange joints. Commonly used gaskets are non-metallic (ASME B 16.21), spiral-wound (ASME B 16.20) and ring-joint (ASME B 16.20). Non-metallic gaskets are used with flat- or raised-face flanges. Spiral-wound gaskets are used with raised-face flanges, and ring-joint gaskets are used with ring-type joint flanges. Stress develops between an RTJ gasket and the flange groove when the gasket is bolted to a flange, leading to plastic deformation of the gasket.

Black Pipe Fittings

They are made up of different materials like copper, iron, brass, PVC etc. Flange fittings are generally used for connections to valves, inline instruments or equipment nozzles. Two surfaces are joined tightly together with threaded bolts, wedges, clamps, or other means of applying high compressive force. Although a gasket, packing, or O-ring may be installed between the flanges to prevent leakage, it is sometimes possible to use only a special grease or nothing at all . Although flange fittings are bulky, they perform well in demanding applications such as large water supply networks and hydroelectric systems. Elbows are used to change the direction of flow between two pipes.

Half Coupling is used for small bore branching from a vessel or large pipe. Returning elbows are used to make a 180º change in direction. Returns are used in the heating coil, heat exchanger, tank vent, etc. These Fittings are available in a different types of end connections. And when you need to test the pressure of your pipes, our selection of test plugs proves to be a reliable option. Basically, the laws implemented Jan. 1st, 2014 require plumbing products that come in contact with drinking water to be “essentially lead free” (less than 0.25% weighted average).

Compression coupling is regular coupling which is connected between two pipes and it prevents leakage by the arrangement of gaskets or rubber seals on both sides, otherwise glue is provided. Slip coupling is easier to install and it contains two pipes which are arranged as one into other, inner pipe can slide up to some length. Flanges are rated at 150, 300, 400, 600, 900, 1500, and 2500psi; or 10, 15, 25, 40, 64, 100, and 150 bars of pressure. Various types of flanges are available, depending on construction.

It should be noted that this safety factor is contingent on error-free assembly and correct routing of the pipeline system. Information about ttings often includes the nominal pressure, designated PN. The nominal pressure, PN, is merely an index that serves as an identi er or designator for a part or system. When the assembly instructions are followed, repeat ttings can be carried out safely and reliably.

Tighten the union nut until the point at which it becomes noticeably more di cult to turn the union nut. At this point, for example, minor damage on the thread caused by the union nut getting caught must be overcome.
